After the animal-loving teen disappeared from a group home in late January, she was found brutally slain. Indigenous women and girls are vulnerable to being disappeared and fatally harmed, Emily was no exception. We at Black Girl Missing are calling upon our own community to expand the conversation to combat the norms that white supremacy has created.
Black Girl Missing would like to use this week's episode to highlight Melissa Skeet, a citizen of Navajo Nation, who is rollerskating across the country to honor and raise awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. You can follow, donate to, and support Skeet on her Instagram account, @skeet_fighter.
